Choosing the right Macbook pro spec?

Hi guys, I am thinking of getting a macbook pro laptop for portable editing whilst on set. I currently have a g5 quad core 4tb 8gb hard drive, but I keep it at work and dont always want to go in to edit on a weekend personal stuff, so macbook pro at home would be great. I have a 23inch apple monitor at home which could plug to tha laptop so Im not too fussed about size of the mac book screen, I just need to know what specs should I currently look for so I dont have any issues running fcp and rendering wont take days. Ill be converting h264 footage to prores 422 and also will have a 1tb 800 firewire external storage drive.

I read some where that its essential to have NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT card installed is this still the case, and would 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo be over kill if im soley using it for fcp, would more ram be a better option?

Thansk for any help and advice guys

Make sure your desktop display has Mini Display Port which is what the new MacBook Pros have.
