Chinese companies that I've never heard of before, are starting to release 100x100mm IRND filters. I was expecting to see something from the usual suspects like Fotga, Ice, Zomei, Urth, K&F, Haida etc., but non of those filters that I've run across cut IR. The Fujing filters are a hair shy of 101x101mm 4x4 filters, but I think they'd work in a matte box, maybe with a little double sided foam tape, however, they likely have a significant color cast, and who knows mow much they reduce sharpness.

I'd be tempted to try them if eBay had an Amazon style return policy, but the key take away is that IRNDs are no longer the domain of premium brands alone.

They might have a neutral cast, who knows. I don't think it's THAT difficult to achieve on filters that aren't vari-ND

Also, it's $58 and has free returns. Try them and tell us! :)

Maybe things have improved, it used to be that you'd start to get color cast after 3 stops of attenuation, even with quality brands, like Lee's Big Stopper, which was notorious for a heavy blue cast.

Returning a product domestically isn't a big deal, but returning an overseas product is fraught with potential issues.

I just ordered a 0.3, 1.2, and 1.8 Firecrest 4x4 IRND, which were marked down to $72 each on clearance. It's not a full kit, but it certainly gets the ball rolling.

I think things are moving toward 4x5.6, but I already have a 4x4 matte box, and I generally don't shoot wider than 24mm on APS-C when outdoors, so 4x5.6 wouldn't help me any.

ebay UK have a 14 day return period from business sellers - so returns here are quite normal? Not auctions of course, but even international sales it's 14 days from arrival, so if it takes 3 weeks to arrive, then its 2 more weeks to make your mind up.
