Chimera VS Westcott vs others: Softboxes

[Macville]

I am in the market soon for a large softbox for interviews. I have used chimera softboxes before and really like them--easy to use and good quality. However, a Chimera will be around $600-$800 with the speed ring! Another option I have is this Westcott softbox: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/356268-REG/Westcott_4836_Softbox_White_Interior_.html

Has anyone used Westcott softboxes and can speak about their quality and ease of use? I've used other Westcott stuff and it's been good quality, just wondering.

Any other options from other manufacturers?

Almost any softbox will functionally be fine, but a Chimera will last longer. The accessories for the Chimeras are very standardized whereas the Westcott may not be.

I have used the Westcott and Photoflex boxes on occasion, they are fine and a lot cheaper than a Chimera, but for a long term professional tool, you may have better luck with the real deal. I own four Chimeras, they are great. My Medium Quartz, I have been using it for 11 years and it's still going strong, I also have three smalls.

Best,
