chimera octaplus alternatives

I was looking into chimera octaplus softboxes but they are quite pricey and quite rare on the secondhard market. So I was wondering what are good alternatives for the chimera octaplus softboxes? Also how big is a good size? 5", 7" or?

You might want to search for "collapsible beauty dish"

There are a number of alternatives to the Chimera, but most of the cheaper ones I have seen will not support hot lights.

I guess it depends on your intended source size, and use.
