Hi,
I already read this board, but this is my first post.
I will shot a short movie next month, and I first planed to use a borrowed XM2 but the frame mode give to much aliasing, so I'm gonna buy a DVX100AE (PAL version).

I found a good deal for a nearly new DVX (less than 10hrs, but bought mid 2004) and I want to know what to inspect (test) to be sure the camera is in perfect condition.
A checklist would be great :)

I already check some screengrabs, and notice one very thin white line on the right of the picture (maybe 2 pixels large). I used to have the same problem on a XL1S (located at bottom) and I would like to know if this minor problem is common to the DVX100, and if it's fixable?

One last thing, I'm little paranoid  , so I'm affraid the counter may been reset.
The guy who sell me the camera told me he know well a Panasonic service station, do you think it's possible to reset the counter without any traces?

Thanks

I guess if the white line doesnt bother you then i would check:

Lens (does it look clear and free from scratches?)

Fiddle with all of the menu items and ensure that they make the proper settings change. (WB, Recording Options, etc.)

Comes w/ all accessories?

Ensure that all plugs and switches on the exterior work. (XLR, Firewire, headphones)

I really dont know what else right now, maybe check w/ someone you know who can take a look?

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Yes i would assume that it wouldnt be difficult for someone VERY experienced w/ electronics to change the counter.
