I notice that several people have had the experience (like me) of setting the capture mode to "anamorphic" capture, only to have the anamorphic column in the bin not checked and, therefore, the footage displayed as 4:3 squeezed instead of widescreen anamorphic. My question: if I simply tick the anamorphic column in the Browser bin AFTER capture (which does, in fact, then display the clip correctly), does that solve my problems for the rest of the edits I make from that clip? I am hoping all that I read about "rendering" to change formats has to do with letterbox and squeeze conversion and not with displaying and working with material shot with the anamorphic adapter but captured incorrectly (meaning the anamorphic column didn't end up with a checkmark in it as it should have). I don't want to have to recapture all my stuff, but I will if my footage somehow gets "rendered" after checking the anamorphic box.
Many thanks!
