I've got the same 74Gig raptor 10k drive and have to say I personally don't believe it's worth it. It replaced a 200Gig SATA 7.2K drive and I have not noticed a bit of difference in boot-up time or program launch speeds. Maybe a MicroSecond or 2 but nothing you are going to feel.. Just my .02 worth.

Nice sound card.
I need to get me one of those. I have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and I think its broken. Everytime i try to install the driver it says no Sound Blaster card was found on you're computer...oh well.

I don't like LCD's because I never get accurate color reproduction. I can send a video feed out to my production monitor from Premiere, but that doesn't help me with Photoshop or Maya.

If you look closer, it's actually DUAL CRT's.

nice specs. i'd look into AMD processor's also though. cheaper and perform better then intels. you're paying mostly for the name. but if you do get it- looks nice dude. congrats

True Barry. If I was building my machine today that is probably what I'd go with but a year ago when I built my system the 19" was all I could afford.

I was looking at the AMD chips, but an AMD 2.2 Ghz cost about the same as an Intel 3.2.

Am I missing something?

Sirius - That case of yours is HOT! And, dare I say, sexy. Seriously, there's no noticeable scars, no fake add-ons, and the proportions are just right. Not to mention, the "WARNING" on the monitor lets everyone know she's a little naughty sometimes. (wink, wink) So, can I have it's number?

Koolance Water-cooled system. I built it about a year ago and love it. Very quite even with 5 internal harddrives and 3 burners. I don't remember the exact model but this one below is the closest thing I could find on their site. They don't make my exact model anymore.

Why go with 3 burners? Can they run simultaneously? I've never done that.

Yep, I always burn 3 at a time if I have to. Nero allows for the selection of multiple burners.

What the main purpose of the cooling system? Is it to increase speed, or simply to keep the computer running all of those drives without over-heating and dying?

Definitely the XL2, but I'd wait for the XL2b. It's going to have holographic video. But no 24p.
