Been a while since I posted as I am in the middle of 2 films but this is the trailer for one that I didn't shoot but I was one of the main cast...as a guerilla filmmaker, I was truly impressed with this film...Kely McClung made this feature look like a true release film...I hope you like the trailer...please vote it up if you can and leave a comment...

Cheers,
Stan The Man

The film has indeed expensive look but the look doesn't support (based on the trailer) run-of-the-mill story that we are so familiar with from the 90s films.

I'm biased having worked on the film some, but it impresses me as I was on the set during some of the scenes in the trailer and still it beats my expectations.

the music was too loud throughout the whole trailer. Images are great.

I only lasted about 10s because I couldn't stand the music. Maybe if the levels were a little lower...:violin:

The little that I saw looked pretty good though.

It was shot on a stock EX1.., I was thrilled to be in this film for the quality of its production...it was purely the product of hard work and hard workers...

I totally agree, the images are great, the look of the film is great, the action looks really good, generally speaking in every visual sense I was very impressed. The music was way too loud, and distracting for that reason, I also wanted to close it early but just turned down my volume.

The main thing is, and maybe I'm just not getting it or I wasn't paying good enough attention, but my friend Bryan works as an editor at a trailer editing house and I know just how much work these guys put into it, and after watching a trailer that was 3 minutes long, so a minute longer than many trailers, I don't have the slightest clue what this film is about. Let me sum up my impression of this trailer: "AHHHH!!! YA!!!!!! *KICK* *PUNCH* BAM BAM BAM AHHHH *LOUD MUSIC*" and repeat that for about 3 minutes. If you asked me to tell you what it was about, I would say, "Fighting and people shooting at each other and... bloody fights?" That is all I got out of three minutes. Compare that to a great trailer for a film, even a bad one, where I can more or less tell you what the film is about and at least say what the premise is, what the setup is, who the good and bad guys are, etc. A trailer like that lets me know whether I want to see it based on whether I'm "hooked" by the story. In this case, all I have is whether I want to see the fighting, and frankly fighting and gunfire in the service of a bad story is totally wasted.

I am NOT saying it's a bad story, all I'm saying is I have no clue whatsoever what the story even is, so I can't really say, "Oh I want to go see this movie," because I think to myself, eh, I haven't heard of it, if I want great action I'm just going to watch a $100 million blockbuster I already know about. You have to hook me with a great premise where I go, "Huh, wow, now THAT'S something I haven't seen before!" That's really all we have in the indie world, by the way. We can't do action better than Hollywood or better than a great Hong Kong action film of the past, we can't do stunts or car chases better, we can't do explosions or special effects better, we can't get bigger stars, all we can do is have a kick-ass idea that is so strong people want to see our movies or have dialogue and characters so clever that they really offer a point of departure from mainstream fare.

I'm not trying to be overly critical here at all because as was said, the visuals are just fantastic, clearly there are enough of them to cut together this trailer too, but I was just hoping for a bit more illumination about what this film may be about. Also I think you wear the audience down because after a minute, I'm already pretty tired of the action. Whereas if it started off with something big in the first 15 seconds, to catch me, then went into the plot after that, and built up to bigger and bigger action / fights (where I knew what was at stake to some extent) then ended on a high, I would be like, "Oh yes, I want to see that."

The Iron Man 2 trailer has such a sweet ending for instance, and it keeps building up throughout the trailer like most. Then again, no matter how bad the Hollywood film, almost all of them have absolutely amazing trailers.

Thanks for your thoughts Johnathan...you are right there is little story behind this trailer. There will be various trailers for this film. ...as with most films of a high calibre, the aim this time is to have many trailers aimed at different markets.......some 20 secs some 2 mins some with story and some with less...there's a lot of market to cover and this film has many facets to showcase... even if it's not for every person. Hollywood isn't selling stories in their posters or their trailers anymore...I hate to submit to this approach so I think doing all the different trailers will help satisfy all areas of the market...examples that jump to mind are Mission Impossible...the trailer showed some amazing stunts with Cruise flying off a train but the film turned out to be an espionage, thinking man's film, not an action movie...You would think looking at the poster of Alice in Wonderland that it is a movie about Johnny Depp's character...not the story I was taught...I could go on but I am sure many of you can recall trailers and posters that dont really tell the story. This trailer is designed to attract fight fans. I'll post another soon incase you want to compare...The Filmmaker is Kely McClung...a regular poster here...I am just the actor in it...but proud yo have the footage for my reel...

Best,
Stan the Man
