Check out my new logo!!! Thoughts!?

oh. i saw it not so much as saying this is all we do, filming live concerts, but as showing a combination of the cameras and the crowd and mic as being like, you, and your fans, when you get famous, after we film you. u know? i appreciate your opinion and thanks, i love my name too ha ha...

I'm glad you understood that my criticism was not to let you down or attack you personally, but my own way of trying to help you out on what I think would help improve/develop it.

Like me, everyone else has given their own, honest criticism. This is what makes this forum unique, and such a great ressource.

Trust me, the beauty of this forum is people willing to share their knowledge and time with honest opinions. In this board, there are veterans/professionals in many fields of film/video production, from Compositing/ 3d/ Digital Arts to Film production, from shooting to directing- there are even award winning, Oscar nominated members here, and they are willing to share their knowledge with you, me, and everyone that comes to visit. Seriously, how many honest criticism from your peers one gets in "real life" ?

No, I'm no Oscar nominee, and am merely a TVC Director working in Asia, but this honest brainstorming is invaluable. Take everyone's opinion, think about it, think about were you are and were you want to be, and how seriously you take this logo. This is your "Brand"- your visual calling card!

Again...I stress...your logo doesn't MAKE the company or the quality of your work. Yes, a nice, well designed logo is good to have, but don't stress out about it. If you don't believe me...check this one out, this company does quite a good business last time I checked?

Almost as bad a the Verizon logo...

Then there's the worst logo EVER for a little place in Arlington, MA. I can't imagine this is going to help their business:

Tweak the one you have...you can always change it...and worst case, you can get a Mod to delete this thread.

No worries....

After weeks of dealing with a logo company that did NOT suit my needs, I discovered that the new photographer I'm going to add my to my music video production company's crew also does graphic design.. and ROCKS at it. he made me this logo within a few days and I couldnt be happier.

Thoughts?!?!!

I find the image to be one of great design, evoking the thoughts of power and performance. The subtle coloring surrounding the microphone combined with the lightness of the wings gives one an etherial, floating feeling reminiscent of an out of body experience. The arms raised, flipping off the viewer indicates a rebel style invoking a feeling of true forward thinking, a take no prisoners outlook...your productions WILL succeed. The weak, hard to discern name you have chosen gives anyone considering you the feeling that you're not interested in yourself, and as such, must be devoted to your client above self, always a fine trait. The three wheels at the bottom give the potential client a feeling of mobility on your part, always ready and accessible to the project, again, a fine strength to display. Your choice to add the running black below shows a take no prisoners approach highly sought after in a production company. The old style microphone, a nice touch, shows great knowledge in the art on communication, something one can never stress enough. And finally, your decision to use Canon lenses in your logo shows a true attitude of screw-em all, especially those Panasonic lovers out there...

Yes scratchpatchfilms, your Get Famous Productions logo seems to be the perfect logo for you to tell the world exactly what they will get from you and why you are THE production company to beat all others, the best of the best, offering whatever it might be you offer (you sly fox you).

If thats not positive, then I just don't know what is...

It's a bit busy and you sure you want to use the Canon XL as your logo? What happens when you upgrade to a Cinealta or RED?

It could be a cool shirt design.

those are speakers at the bottom.

hey you'd be upset too if you thought your logo was perfect and then had it ripped to shreds!!!!!

No, I'd be grateful that someone bothered to take their valuable time to apply their experience and perspective toward giving me an honest critique.

But yes, it's perfect in every way. Don't even think of changing a thing.*

*unless you want to consider the opinion of the professional graphic designer with whom I'm doing my present show, whose impression is that it's well-rendered but much too busy, will not reduce well or work well in grayscale, and that the central text is not adequately readable. I expect that my own impression as a mere art director, probably wouldn't count, anyway.

Do your thing....if you're happy with your logo, then that's all that counts!

Yes. Inconsequential stuff like attracting clients and presenting a professional appearance, should definitely not figure into your thinking, at all.

do you guys really think that bands are gonna know that those are x1's? like i'm definitely giving what you're saying consideration, but i just can't imagine anybody looking at that logo and thinking those look like shitty cameras. technically i have an xh a1 and we usually use a dvx 100 and a hvx 200 but i didnt think it mattered what kind they put in the logo as long as it was some sort of prosumer cam. cuz really, any prosumer cam looks professional and impressive to people who don't know anything about cameras and just buy handcams at future shop. u know? and these are low budget music videos, we probably won't be doing film any time soon. the bands are just starting out and have barely any money. i just really don't think the type of camera matters. i know that you guys see an x1 and obviously don't think too highly of it and think i'm limiting myself, but i dont think anybody else will see it the way you guys do.

this is my take on it.

I think the people who suggested changing the XL1s have a point worth considering but I don't think it should be at the top of your list. If you're going to tweak something, follow the advice of Sad Max's graphic designer :) and others who say it needs to be less busy and more readable. The point about it not reducing well is a very good one. It won't have to be too much smaller before it gets completely indecipherable.

Focus on de-cluttering the logo first. Then, if you still have some design hours left you might want to look at other camera graphics to replace the XL1s. But the readability is a much bigger issue, IMO.

yeah, the first thing I noticed is the XL Series cams too. Personally I would look at that and think you had a low budget camera company with a good graphic designer. Never do you want to evoke cheapness in the way you present yourself, people will expect it. I really like the logo, and I think it will look great on shirts, especially if you do the whole "off center" thing, like on one shoulder or wrapped around the bottom side, you know how many of the shirts are these days. Looks great though. Keep up the good work.

thanks for the feedback Kit. what camera would you recommend using rather than the XL1's that won't make me look cheap? not film camera, cuz we don't use those.... and btw we ARE supposed to be a low budget camera company.. that's the idea....

and the whole 'off center' thing for the t-shirts is a good idea! actually i hadnt thought of that, but you're right, it does seem to be the trend these days.... thanks!
