The picture shows it with no foam and full of tools, but it is the same case that Barant posted (I have two and even the straps are the same as Barant's picutres.) It comes with the foam. I have two of them, but I don't use them for my DVX -- they are a little shallow.
i have a hard case that i only use for occasions where i have to travel and i want something stronger than the porta brace bags i have.
it is a hardig stormcase, the largest one they make that fits the dimensions for carry-on, plus it has a built in handle & wheels, oh yeah and it floats, is waterproof and almost indestructable.
i have to get it recut to fit the anamorphic lens and probably a place to put the century optics 16:9 viewfinder adaptor.
as for cases - I use the cinebag - can fit the camera with my 4x4 cavision mattebox installed, and also my lav mics, extra batteries, cables, head hones, rain cover, hmi sun gun - basically everything - I love the cinebag!

I noticed that aswell.
those rods don't seem as rugged as the ones I am using with my 4x4 cavision mattebox...
Here is a picture of my Pelican case, AG-DVX100A, Chrosziel mattebox and Chrosziel sidewings. I should take an updated picture to show the second layer beneath the camera and mattebox. The case is large enough to accomodate other gear further below. As Barry Green puts it: "That must be the largest Pelican case on earth!"
I wanted a case that could accomodate the camera with rods support already attached. The rest is fairly easy to install and uninstall.

i know you're only kidding, and i don't like to be a wet blanket, but thats a brilliant way to get a LOT of your time wasted at an airport. :-/
i realized the matte box was drooping later, i had to take it all apart to show in the case!
that is the chrosziel setup with the panasonic anamorphic lens.
the rods are adjustable, with the anamorphic lens you go pretty much all the way out to the end.
they sell other rods if i needed them but with this setup it isn't needed
the case is a hardig storm case, i forget the model, it is the largest that will fit in the carryon size.
i have like 4 porta brace bags, the cs-dv for the camera and mics but between the wireless stuff, the lavalier etc it is WAY too full.
i have two small cargo bags and a huge one for my 14" sony production monitor with these groovy maple handles.
i'll almost definitely be getting that new porta brace bag that is the dv organizer as i have been told it will fit the camera with the matte box on and has more room for my microphone stuff.
this hardcase is JUST for the camera and anything else deemed super delicate.
i thought i would use this for carryon but so far i always use the porta brace as it JUST fits in the carryon size limit.
Hi there,
Here is my pelican case layout.
I prefer to place the camera so that with the case upright the camera is also upright.
I also prefer to sculpt the foam around the camera rather than just cut out a hole so the camera is loose.
The configuration is carefully designed so that i can fit different items depending on the use of the day.
E.G. fitted with radio mics for outside broadcast work or battery charger and extra tapes for location shooting.
I also use a soft case for those times when maximum protection is not required and a lower profile is useful.

The easiest way to get it form-fitting is to put the camera in an oven at 350 for about 45 minutes, then carefully (use oven mits!) position it on the foam. It will melt its way down into it, providing a perfect fit.
