Cheaters/Hackers in online games

I was bought Call of Duty Black Ops for Xmas 2010...I had never played a COD game before so wasn't sure what to expect.

Well, the single player game was great, I really enjoyed it, as I had come from playing the Medal of Honor series before and all I heard about was COD this COD that from friends and the like.

However, multi-player was a totally different story. I did enjoy playing it for a while until I realized there were so many hackers in the game I just got irate and threw profanities in the chat thing.

How do I know they are cheating? Well I learned about the types of hacks used and most times it is so obvious these guys are cheating.

I don't want to play online anymore unless I bought a hack myself and tried to fight fire with fire but whats the point? I would be as low as the cheaters then.

Just saying, these guys have ruined my online gaming experience.

What hacks are you talking about? the campers really tick me off, but i know they patched a few of the hacks on PS3. but, realistically you should be playing Halo any way.

You don't have to hack, you just have to know the hacks to combat them.

Also, the best possible online multiplayer experience one can have (IMO) is with a specific group, crew or guild. When you have designated battles between teams the rules are laid out pretty plainly.

But yeah, if you're just hopping on Modern Warfare 2 and expecting not to have some people hack by burrowing into a rock or something, you're nuts. The nice thing about a lot of the hacks is that if you're careful they usually can't hit you from most positions. So while they've decided to stay hacked for the entire game, you get to run around and actually, ya know, play.

Another way to eliminate hacking is by not playing Deathmatch. If you're in a timed round where you have to plant/disarm something, hacking is nearly impossible.

I play it all the time.

Most are not cheaters. The skill level in multi-player is MUCH MUCH higher than the difficulty of the single player campaign.

You'll get thrashed alot, but stick with it.

What hacks do you accuse of? I rarely see anything. But then again, I'm really really good. :)

For me it's more about the players themselves that I can't stand. I'm by no means an amazing gamer, but I enjoy to game. When I go online there's always a few immature teens that play wayyyy too much, and 'pwn' you at every corner. It's frustrating for me.

The only good online experience I had was BF2, and that was with a clan (and because of the clan).

This is why I love "horde" type modes like the horde mode in Gears of War 2, or Halo Reach's firefight mode.

Not to say I don't like the competitive stuff too, but at least with the more cooperative modes since everyone is on the same team it usually means less to no hacking or cheating.

They are out there, how many are used, if they are even in public lobbies these day's who knows? I have jumped into some "Ice skating super speed rounds", it's sad that potentially some can't accept competing with others on a level playing field, you want to cheat fine do it in single player, mah what are you going to do, if you start looking for it you will go nuts and be wrong half the time, watch kill cam's for the most part it's internet connection speed differences, in my experience.

but it does suck! just don't join in it's only going to make it worse, I always thought like the weight lifting circuit they should have clean multipayer and cheaters lobby complete with different ranking points and prestige so you have to pick one and stick with it, wont totally fix it but if you call one the pro version all the ego's and cheater you would think would go there.

Auto-knife is my first complaint. I know for sure I was ahead of this dude and he magically knifes and kills me. I know you can somewhat see your enemies on the map but one person ALWAYS knew exactly where I was and knifed me from behind every time. When I called him a hacker he called me a noob.

Wall hacks-when I viewed with suspected hacker on kill cam (other people accused him of hacking as well) I noticed his iron sights were almost glued to my every movement behind the wall and killed me. He didnt even know half the people he killed were there because they didnt appear, he just has x-ray vision wall hacks.

Also, the ridiculous amount of kills some of these blatant hackers get, where you are constantly bombarded with napalm drops etc over and over.

I remember in one game this guy had the machine of death or whatever it is, the mini gun, and no matter what my team tried to do, throwing grenades at him etc he NEVER DIED!!!!!! We must of emptied clips into this guy matrix style.

also, some people seem to magically step over my claymore (i saw it in kill cam) without getting killed, and they never threw a flash bang etc.

and yeh man...campers...lol........I could go on and on.

I agree, there are some skilled players there that kick my butt, but I have that gnawing feeling when I suspect a cheater, and its somewhat clarified when they perform impossible feats more than twice.

I usually stick with ground war or domination. Should we start a DVX Clan?

Hey thats a cool idea!

I'm pretty decent at COD but the thing is how good you can be relies 95% on your connection. I was on a crap connection and would die far too much, moved to a good connection and would always get 20-30 kills and 5,6,7 deaths or so and choppers nearly every game (and napalm!). I'm on a crap connection again and my K/D ratio has taken a HUGE hit.

Been using the tomohawk with scavenger pro lately, that **** is fun! ** though again, prepare to miss a lot on a not great connection.

Hi TMNT (Teenage mutant ninja turtle? lol) I am in NZ and the broadband here sucks. im on a ping of about 160-300. Its so slow at times ive had to lower my screen resolution. Im on telstraclear so thats Australian right?

You got it dude. Yeah that ping sucks but the funny thing is sometimes the game seems to play better on yellow bars than green, I don't trust it at all. I'm currently playing on a super slow connection (I think slowed to 64kbps) as I run through my measly 7gb in about 10-15 days. Not sure what the ping is atm but it's playable. Telstra is Australia so I guess Telstraclear is a branch of it.

I brought Homefront for it's dedicated servers but that game is pretty much completely unplayable for multiplayer. Apparently a second patch is waiting for approval by Sony, it better work. I've never had a game before that was completely useless.

I've heard people do aimbot (autoaim) on COD (not sure if that's MW2 or BO aswell). Infinity Ward who developed MW2 are half/most the problem, that rock glitch was there for months, I've heard it's finally been fixed. What hope do we have when the game developers couldn't care less?

Yeh man alot of games I cant join in the server because my ping is too high it sucks. Haha yeh I heard about the javelin glitch , but not the rock glitch what was up with that one? The knife lunge in Black ops is ridiculous as well. I start shooting the dude coming at me, hitting him but he takes me out with a knife lunge from 10 yards its ridiculous. You're on console then not PC like me? I don't have cable broadband as I live rurally.

Think the stage was called Fuel and people could 'go inside' a rock where they could shoot from and not be seen. Annoying as hell.

I think Black Ops knifing is pretty good, MW2 was ridiculous with the terrible commando pro perk, ruined the game IMHO. I'm on PS3.
