Cheapest way to get hands on CS4?

Any suggestions of the cheapest ways that a new business could get hold of a copy of CS4. In the UK the full package is £2000 (that's over $3000!)

Any thoughts?

Not sure about the UK, but here in the U.S. you can buy "Academic Software" (perfectly legal) if you have a child (or if you yourself) qualify as a full time student. Considerable difference in price (about 1/3 less) and the software is the same.

Buy an older cheaper version off ebay, then buy the upgrade from adobe.
Eligibility Requirements
As far as the educational thing goes, I don't think you can use educational software for commercial uses, I could be wrong though.

Actually, you don't have to be a full time student. I've purchased several
software packages including Adobe Creative Suite 3 & 4 and I'm only taking
1 - 2 classes per semester.

you qualify for the academic version, at least in Europe, if you have a valid student card. and you are allowed to buy one copy each academic year. (not exactly sure if it is a copy of one product or one of each of the products).

The academic version of the master collection is 499+vat (that you don't pay if you have a valid vat number). The retil version of this same bundle is 2.999€ + vat. So you can really see the difference. Is so bg that is worth buying while you are a student if you see yourself usign it after you are done studying.

I'll add a link to the education europe store.

https://store5.adobe.com/cfusion/st...DU-UK&event=displayCatalog&catalogOID=1574410 (this is only for the uk)
https://store5.adobe.com/cfusion/st...at&store=OLS-EDU-EU&loc=en_xeu&catID=STUDENTS (this is for the rest of Europe except for france and Germany, for those two you can find the link on their webpage)

If you're not currently a college student, or don't have a child who is, just sign up for a course at a school that sells Adobe software at the student discount. You can find out which schools do by visiting Adobe's student discount page. Get a student number and use that to buy the software through the college bookstore, then withdraw from the course early in the semester, before there's a penalty.

Every educational package I've ever checked into expressly stated that it could not be used for commercial purposes and still remain within the licensing agreement.

Additionally, while educational packages often include most of the core functionality, no all are exactly the same as the commercial versions, i.e. certain features/niceties may not be included.

As a business, and particularly a new one, my biggest concern would be my credibilty, i.e. if a client somehow learned that I was effectively mis-representing my use (or mis-use) of a product that I claimed to own, what might they think of how I would treat confidentiality, licensing, copyright, or permissions concerning the use of assets they own, or which they hired me to create?

You can save a relatively small amount of money now, or run the risk of losing that client and future work from them, damaging your reputation, and losing much more money in the long run while fighting to restore your reputation.

How much of a gambler are you?

hahahah true, I didn't read well enough it clearly states it in the webpage,

Restrictions on use of Student Editions:
You may purchase only one license of any Adobe Student Edition product. This license may be used only on your privately owned computer. Student Edition products may not be used for commercial gain.
I guess, that now the cheapest way to get premiere is second hand market, maybe a small production house that is changing their editing systems...
