Cheapest dimmer lamp

Hey guys, I'm looking for a cheap lamp with a dimmer for a B&W movie I'm shooting soon. It's not going to be a main light, only a filler for effect (as in, I dim the light as the shot goes on).

I've looked around on the forums and I don't really know how dimmers work too well. One issue is usually buzzing or flicker- the shot won't have audio and I'm not leaving it on a certain setting, it's just for one shot to make it look like the sun has gone behind some clouds.

So basically, I'm looking for very a cheap lamp to dim, like for 40 bucks total. Walmart? Depot? Or can I buy a dimmer to use on a lamp I have?

Here, does the same thing, plug into any lamp. Just make sure that the light bulb isn't a flourescent bulb.

Yes, but a lot of it is going to depend on the type of bulb the lamp use. Fluorescent will flicker. Of course the color temperature will change somewhat when you dim the light, but it shouldn't matter too much.
