Cheapest battery option for Odyssey7?

Been looking at this monitor, trying to price out what a complete "kit" would cost. . .case, batteries, some kinda arm to attach to cam, sunshade. A cheap battery option by CD themselves was mentioned in another thread last year. . .did that ever come to fruition? I don't see anything like that on B&H's site, Nebtake 2 batt cage for Sonys seems to be the cheapest one on there, and that's almost $300, and then of course you'd need the batts themselves. Wondering if I'm missing anything. Thanks.

We no longer manufacture our own battery and charger.

Instead we now offer battery plates for popular camcorder batteries to power the Odyssey7 & Odyssey7Q. This way clients can use their current camera batteries & chargers for their Odyssey.

Battery types supported include:
Sony L-series (same as FS700)
Sony U-series (same as F3)
Panasonic GCA-series (HVX type)
Canon BP9-series (C100/300/500 type)
JVC Camcorder series (general camera type)

These plates are list price US$75 each.

Oh, cool. Thats certainly better than $250. Where do you buy those plates? Anything for old canon batts (xl2 compatible)? I have some of those for that cam that i also use with a small led light.

Thanks. Any way to verify that? I can't find anything about BP-945s (the ones I have) working with the C100 and therefore that mount. There's a thread on here where someone says BP-945s will NOT work with a C300, don't know if that's different for the 100. If I had to say "ah hell with it!" and buy new batteries just for that monitor, any idea which of the six you listed are the cheapest?

I believe they are all similarly priced. I like the modern Canons because they have a basic fuel gauge built in. I have a couple of old Canon BP-970 batteries that went with an old XL-H1 that we used for testing (I called it the "video chainsaw"). Those batteries fit on our mount and work just fine. I'm not familiar with the BP-945 batteries. Perhaps the issue is that they are so low capacity that they cannot handle the initial power surge draw of a C100 camera. If so that may also be the case with the Odyssey but I'm not sure.

Think about what cameras you will be using the Odyssey with and if there could be any room for overlap. Or think about getting a P-Tap cable for the Odyssey and powering from the camera if it has the output.

More than likely Canon DSLRs, Sony EX1, C100 for the most part. You never know but those are three I regularly use right now.
