Cheap USB Voice-over mic ?

Good question. I would see a couple of issues. One is that the built in mics are stereo pairs so while you could concentrate on one side and throw the other out that is kind of funky. I personally would not grab an Oktava first for VO. My Fav at the moment is the Heil PR40. So would either mic's that I wouldn't use unless I had to for VO be comparable? Kinda sorta. They are all small diaphragm condensers. The Oktava is the better mic but the built ins are very optimized in their connection to the recorder so that probably mitigates the difference a bit. The Oktava isn't a USB mic so you would have to include an interface & preamp. If all you want is a USB VO mic I would go with the Blue or Rode USB mics. No reason to pay for features your not going to use.

??? Probably good. I really like the Heil mics. The PR40 was designed to be a "better" replacement for RE20's.

Noiz - the reason I am considering the h4 and the like is cause while I do need an easy usb mic solution, i do occasionally recorder concerts and the like and it's a lot more convenient to have a portable recorder. Also, the reason I wanted usb for VO is cause I don't always control the location so a portable recorder would naturally give more flexibility.

Personally I think that is probably a mistake. The whole point (for me) of a small flash recorder is portability and ease of use (in that you just pull it out and can record). If I'm going to start carrying mics and zeppelins and a preamp there isn't much reason to have a tiny recorder that is inherently harder to use (small buttons small menus etc). So when it came down to it for me I didn't care about XLR ins. If I really needed to go that rout I would be using the MixPre with it and it has a 1/8" phono out at -10 so that would be an easy connect.

For this the Olympus LS-10 is a real winner (I got this for pocketable work - my main unit is the £5,000 Nagra VI - I'm *very* picky).

Otherwise, the Edirol R-09HR is good, as is the Sony PCM-D50.

For a single mic. the HHB FlashMic is a winner as this is a mic with a built-in flash recorder (rather than a flash recorder with built-in mic.)

these are all interesting but don't have inputs and are way over my price range (especially the hhb)
