I thought mcmastercar had some but can't seem to find them.

Anyone got a cheap source for 15" ones?

I bought some aluminum rods thinking I was smart, but they are very hard to slide stuff on and off the rails. I've tried sanding them down but it hasn't helped much and I'm going to bite the bullet and get them from redrock at $100 a pop or so. You can buy my aluminum ones and cut to size when I 've replaced them.
I guess the aluminum is just to soft.

McMaster has aluminum ones, #1681T28, 40" (1 meter) length $26.03. But these are "mill finish." You will need to sand them lightly and then have them anodized (see below) to make them slide smoothly.

Lenny, you can get your aluminum ones anodized. Most anodizers have a minimum lot charge of $30 to $50 (this would be total for BOTH rods). Check for an anodizer near you. Specify "Type 2" anodize. You can get clear or black. The anodize will make them slide nicely.

No, Type II anodize is typically .0002" thick (2 ten-thousandths of an inch). You won't notice, or even be able to measure, any increase in diameter, but it makes a huge difference in surface hardness. Try it. You'll like it!

Yeah I was wondering about that one, too. xD

Got my rails and a bunch of other goodies I needed in one shot! Thanks dudes.
