cheap shoulder support

Looks kinda bulky and cumbersome, I have done alot of hand held work and I think that set up might not be the best idea. You would feel the weight of everything really fast, if that makes sense.

Cavision has a cheap hand held solution grips/shoulder pad for 250-300, they show up used alot. However the pad is hard plastic and when I used the set up it got uncomfortable quick.

Play around with some hand held rigs, before you get one, the position of the handles is also a big deal with these too. If you live in Orlando, you more than welcome to try out my Zacuto hand held set up, which is very similar to Cavisions.

Building the perfect Beast pt.2

Hey Guys, the third link is the infamous El Cheapo, we have two, but we use them for our BTS/Night Vision cameras, they are very small in weight. They won't support the weight of a LEX and camera mate. The center mounting screw may pop out very easily. Zacuto are fantatsic but pricey and the new Mantris is gorgeous but again super pricey.

nantnee. You could just add handles and a shoulder pad to your existing LEX V2 rods, this is the most cost effective, or get creative take two 18 inch rods, add a camera mounting plate on a rod support, with a QR that matches your tripod then add the handles you want and the shoulder mount you want.

You slide your existing rod system with QR plate onto this hand held system and back off for tripod use. Two layers of rods, but so important, when you lift up on it, it won't tweak the Nikon lens and follow focus because you handles are on a second rod mount system. You can choose any manufacturer for the components and make up what you need and what you can afford.

Cavision shoulders pads, v3 work well , add a camera cushion pad and the y are super comfy. Z-balance is a fantastic versatile tool for QR plate and rod mounting options, mount a V-mount and plate, wireless etc.. on it, It will add a 3/4 or 1/4/ 20 thread for noga arms etc... Cinevate has a great universal rod mount for $35 you can mount all kinds of things on to it. Here are some previously, posted picts of what i'm describing, Zacuto at the heart of the baseplate on the camera, and a Hybrid of all the best parts from all.
Cheers

i dont know why i never thought of adding handles and a shoulder pad to my rods.

what are you using to connect the bottom rods to your main unit?

Bogen 577 Quick release adapter and plate.
Cheers

its hard to tell from the picture, but i see the 577 connected to the Z-balance, which is connecting it to your top rods, but how are you connecting the 577 to the bottom. I see something that goes completely around the rods.

Oh that is a modified tripod rod mount similiar to one made by Cavision but modified to take a 1/4 20 and 3/8 16 so it doesn't shift or twist.
