Hey, I'm back again. I posted something few weeks ago about being ready to be screenwriter. Now, I'm more free, less stressed with more time on my hands and with a writing sample for any of those interested to check out. I am very cheap...and worth it :)

To contact me, email me on havehope86@yahoo.com

I couldn't help noticing all the mistakes in your post, are you sure you are a writer?

That should be:

not all writers have the best grammar:

ee cummings, for example.

What are the freakin odds?

I was in a book store today with a friend, trying to recommend a book and I couldn't remember the freakin poets name.

Grrrrr.

Now I know, but I will forget again by the time I get back to a bookstore.

Arg.

And it seems this thread isnt going in a very good direction.

What exactly are you looking to do? Sell a written screenplay? Get hired to write a screenplay from someone else's story idea? Find a guy who wants to make a certain genre film and you will write the story and screenplay?

I just dont know.

My advice, if I may:

#1, be a tad more clear on what it is you are offering.

#2, make your work/service sound just a tad more desirable.

If I'm making a film - and I am - I wouldn't put all the time, effort and money into a film of a screenplay I got from "The cheap guy".

I think the story and screen play rank a tad higher than craft service on Importance in Making a Good Film.

I'll go with the cheap craft service. Give us Nilla Wafers instead of Oreos. (Hold it.... scratch that.) But I want the 6-120 page thingy that my whole film is based on to be pretty darn valuable.

I suggest you pray to the King of All Cosmos that he flick this thread into the skies and create stardust out of it and that you start a new thread.

Screenwriter seeking Filmaker for collaboration

And then specify what you want to do.

"Any directors that have a great story but need the screenplay written? Let's collaborate."

Something like that.

So, what are your strengths? Comedy? Horror? Action? Drama? Are you a good dialogue man? Can you subtley bring out character in 1 or 2 understated lines of dialogue?

I dont know. Tell us. What can you do? What are your influences? Sure we can email you, but save us the time (GageFX says as he writes this stupid post).

Can I go to bed now?

All I am saying is; if anybody needs a screenwriter for their project, then I am flexible enough to help with any genre that they want written.
Thanks,

I don't think you quite understand. It's great you want to write but why exactly would anyone take you up on this offer when we have no idea of your talent or experience? Anyone can write (anyone who isn't illiterate at least). I don't see many people saying, "Hey. I'm ready to direct! Give me something!" This isn't an easy business and people aren't going to start giving you cash because you announce that you are ready to be a screenwriter.

Anyone can write.
Agreed, it's finding an artist instead of a hack that's difficult.

It helps to have good, solid, writing samples.

You've also offended a lot of writers. One of the problems with the industry (the freelance writer industry) is that young or new writers are so eager to break in to the industry, they end up being the crack whore of the writing pool.

I hope you're talented, I really do, but don't sell yourself (and the rest of us) short. Do the hard work it takes to get two or three cross genre scripts and go get a good agent.

2doors,

You seem to be taking a little heat here, and to understand it you have to realize that writers want to be taken seriously, even the bad ones. They take themselves seriously, that's for sure. So when some young whipper snapper shows up claiming to be a cheap screenwriter, they feel that it is a black mark on their profession, a profession that they already feel is under appreciated. And they are right, of course.

I write a lot of scripts. I do it because I love to write. I also read a lot of scripts that are sent to us, mostly unsolicited. I can tell you right now, most people CAN NOT write nearly as goog as they think they can. Probably no one can. Keep on writing, 2doors, you may be good, I don't know. But choose very carefully how you present yourself to a group of people who also think they are good writers.

They will cut you down faster than the fat girl in gym class.

What the...?
I just realized that this is the DIRECTING section.
Forget everything I said before.
Most directors can't tell a good script from a beer sign.
For most beginning Directors, a cheap screenwriter is just as good any other screenwriter. They think that a dutch angle can fix anything.
Good luck 2doors!

Ummm, guys, I am just advertising a service. If you want it, email me then we can talk more in detail with samples and stuff. If you don't want it, then just ignore the post. It really is very simple. Nobody is getting insulted here.

Ah yes, but you're advertising your service in a way that draws the ire of those you're advertising to. Not exactly a good way to drum up business. You've been given several constructive suggestions for how to improve the likelihood that you'll get to work with directors on this site, but instead you continue to post your yahoo email address (very professional that, especially with the numbers after "havehope") without acknowledging those suggestions. That doesn't really make you look like someone who would respond well to notes from a director.
