Cheap RAM for the G5?

I'd use www.crucial.com
most cheap ram is cheap because it's either produced cheaply or its ram from a big manufacturer that didnt pass their tests. if you dont use your computer for ram intensive work then it may be ok, but then why buy more ram. I went from 1.5 gigs of good ram to 2gigs of cheap ram and lost performance..

Yeah I have talked to alott of people who go for like 4gb of the cheapest ram possible and they loose preformance, Strictly apple goes into mine. Its worth the price to get maximum preformance

I use Data Memory Systems for all my clients' RAM needs. And my RAM needs, too.

Best price and very reliable memory. On the rare case there is a bad piece, they replace it quickly and without any hassle.

A note about Apple and RAM. The RAM they use is ridiculously expensive compared to third party vendors. Supposedly this is because it's higher quality and tested, and I assume that's true. I've never compared performance between an Apple-RAM-loaded Mac and a third-party-RAM-loaded Mac, but I can say that all the Macs I come in contact with run fine.
Tiger is extra-sensitive to RAM issues, so you are more likely to have third-party problems if you are running Tiger. Data Memory RAM works fine with Tiger, as does Crucial.

If you use third-party RAM and have to bring/send your Mac in for service - pull that RAM first. Apple has a policy now where they take out third-party RAM and tell you it's defective and needs to be replaced, regardless of the problem they are fixing (I first saw this when we sent a laptop with a defective screen in). Just an FYI.
