of course this presupposes that one will never have to tilt up or down, or use the onboard light to light the subject.

Personally, when it comes to rain protection I prefer using a hooters girl with one of the extra large golf umbrellas. Naturally, she would be standing outside the umbrella.

Honestly large clear leaf bags work best. Slap it over your camera, cut some holes and it's ready to go. You can toss it out when you're done so it doesn't build up any mould, etc. Film camera assistant guys do this to keep the camera dry...

Plastic bag...works every time in light rain, but if it get's to be heavy, go inside.
