Hey All,
I originally found a thread on cinema5d.com about buying a "Magnetic Base Holder" off of ebay which is virtually the same thing as a magic arm. Problem was, it came in a non-standard metric thread. The forum kinda died off and no-one posted a solution to this problem. I found a way to adapt the 6mm thread to 1/4X20 standard thread.
I purchased 2 X 1/4-20 screws with a long unthreaded neck. I hacked off the top of the screw and threaded the nonthreaded side as 6mm. I bought the dye (tool used to thread) as a 6mm/metric. Fairly easy to do. Check out the poor-quality phone photos.
