cheap light stands

I'm currently going the DIY/Home Depot route for lights (Scoops, work lights, etc) and what i'm really missing from this is some stands. I'd like something decent but nothing terribly expensive. requirements be that they go up at least 8 feet and are reasonably sturdy. Would be a plus if in the future they can accomodate "real" lights :)
I saw a few on cheaplights.com (truss systems and such) as well as some $35 stands on markertek
anyone comment on these or why they should be avoided?
Thanks

Why don't you just use the stands that come with the worklights (even though they typically only go up to 5 to 6 feet) to economize until you're ready for real lights.

I bought some cheap chinese copies of manfrotto stands, and the lock-off bolts constantly need re-tightening. They cost about 40percent what the real ones do, but really annoy me...you never regret buying quality...
