cheap jib arms...

Price always equals quality, but every now and again cheap items show up that are good quality for the price that they are...

So my question is, would a cheap jib arm be alright to use? Or would the footage look like it was hand held rather then on a jib..?

I did a quick search on ebay for jib arm and sorted by price, and there are jib arms there for around $180... They look like a little wind will blow them away but just wondering if any of them are actually ok?

here is example:

Sorry for the very generic answer but the thing you want to think about is this. You spent X dollars on this gear. Camera, Mic, Lenses, etc. Why would you hold it up with a 100 dollar piece of equipment? Essentially putting all your trust in it, and in the end banking your thousands on this piece of very inexpensive equipment. I have no comment on the movement/footage as each case would be different, but again it depends on the quality, and quality usually correlates directly with price. (To an extent)

I am considering a jib. If you find a good one let me know!

I've been looking at the Glidecam Camcrane 200, it's $540 from B&H but I worry that it might wobble. I suppose you could add your own stabilising wires.

The CobraCrane is another one which comes in heaps of varieties which looks a little more sturdy. I'd love to hear from some people who own jibs like these.

Kessler Crane...the KC Lite package is what I have...included a tripod+head and a set of dolly wheels (very good for moving the crane once it is setup). it was about $600 or so including a nice case for the crane and the separate one for the tripod.

The next level up (the standard Kessler Crane) is a much better crane, and still a good price, but not quite as portable for the kind of work I do.

Looks like the Kessler Lite package is going to be the winner for me...

Trying to save up for a 7D first though, if that doesn't happen within the next half of the year then its a jib instead
