Charging To Shoot ??

So I am planning on doing some shooting for a neighborhood business owner-Ive got a brand new cam, and while Im not the most experienced shooter in the world, I do understand the concept of what a decent shot looks like having worked in tv news for almost four years-My issue is however, Im trying to determine what I should charge for a shoot, per hour? After the prject is finished? What does a freelance camera man normally charge? Any thoughts?

I suppose a lot of it depends on the needs of the client. Do you need to rent equipment? Will you be supplying lights, mics, etc? I usually charge $65 an hour, sometimes less, sometimes more, depending on specifics.

A Friend Of Mine Who's A Local Pro And Does Car Lot Commercials And Real Estate Filming Charges $175 An Hour For Himself And The Camera, If Grips And Pa's Are Required He Has A Fee Schedule For Them Also. Keep In Mind The $175 Includes All Processing And Delivering The Film Back In Tape Format For The Tv Stations. He Also Color Corrects Using A Scope And A Expensive Monitor.
