How is this written:

Joe (in Italian)
(rubs temple)
I have a headache

or

Joe
(in Italian. rubs temple)
I have a headache

Two of my characters speak another language. Sometimes they need to translate for third parties. Where do I put the word "translates"?

Thanks

If one person is speaking in Italian....

Joe rubs his temple.

JOE
(In Italian)
I have a headache.

If you have a passage where dialogue is in Italian between or with a few people, put an --- aside ( )

(the following dialogue by characters in Italian)

***

If you have a person speaking in Italian and one in English and it's a long passage, also do an --- aside ( )

(Joe speaks in Italian and Amy speaks in English)

***

If however it's just one spurt of dialogue put it in parentheticals:

JOE
(In Italian)
I don't understand you!

AMY
(In English)
You really get on my nerves!

and so on and so on...
