character animation with lip sync

Have any of the great masters here created motion characters with lip snc animation and phoneme setup? I'm trying (for the first time) to create this type of animation and finding out fast that it requires some real skill!

Sure would appreciate your thoughts on how you would create this type of animation in AE 6.5 - starting with the facial expression development in Illustrator or PS and moving out from there into AE.

Also, if you could point me to other resources relative to links and/or tutorial or any other literature on this topic I would be most grateful.

Thanks very much! :)

Thanks for the link, Kai!

Soundkeys sure looks like it will help make the job simpler.
Next stop: Trapcode.

Taylor,

Thanks for the MOHO link! Some very cool stuff on their web site. Have you had a chance to try it outl?

Also, do you feel this program competes with or rather complements AE? It seems to be much simpler than AE in terms of animating characters. But also appears to offers less animation control. :)

Re: character animation with lip sync

I have played around with it, it is the best tool for quick character animation. It's tools are more designed for character animation than AE, such as their IK for character movement and associations/parents to other geometry.

I would probably use a combination of AE and MOHO, depending on the type of job.

Will do, Taylor. Though it might be a little while before I create anything meaningful ... I just got AE 6.5 production suite and learning it has my brain on a sine curve circuit.

Thanks again for your guidance.
