Chapters not working in Architect after Vegas 11 Pro Render

Hey All,

I am rendering my timeline with chapter markers and rendering as the file as an architect stream along with a seperate ac3 file. As always I use the same file name.

When using Vegas Pro 10 the chapters imported perfectly, never had a problem. In 11 architect is not recognising the markers, im using the exact same procedure and workflow as before. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Sean.

Is the .slk file created with the video in the same folder as the video? That's where the markers are. If you don't have it, DVDA can't see any markers.

Also, are you sure you embedded the markers in the file? V11's render box is different from V10's, so double-check to make sure you had it set to save the markers.

I had this same problem. I'm coming from Sony Vegas Pro 8 and the Version 11 'Render As' dialog IS different. The chapters didn't show up in DVD Architect until I expanded the "MetaData Options" section of the "Render As" Dialog and clicked the "Save Project Markers In Rendered Media File" check box. Then it worked.

Hope that helps.

I also had this problem, but in my case a frame rate mismatch was the problem. Vegas file was rendered to 23.976fps. In DVD architect I somehow had the project properties set at 24fps, the file wpould import but no markers. When I changed the DVD Architect propertiesfrom 24fps to 23.976 fps, the same file loaded with the markers. Thus I'd check that your frame rate in DVD Architect matches you frame rate in the Vegas file

Where are you seeing this "24," instead of 23.976, in DVD Architect? DVDA won't let you select anything which isn't DVD-compliant, and 24.000 isn't, so there's nowhere you can choose 24 or set 24.

Additionally, there are only two places to choose a frame rate in DVD Architect, and neither sets a frame rate for the "project" in the sense it would in Vegas. In the Properties, you choose the frame size for the DVD (720x480 or 720x576), and based on that, DVD Architect itself will automatically set the "frame rate" to 29.97 or 25, respectively -- but all this means is that the base for the DVD is NTSC or PAL. It has no effect on what you import unless you try to bring in NTSC frame rates to a PAL project or vice-versa.

The other place is under Optimize Disc, on the Video tab -- under Recompress Settings, you can set a frame rate -- if you're NTSC, you can choose 29.97 or 23.976 progressive. But this, too, doesn't set a frame rate for the project. What it does is IF the video you've set this for is not DVD-compliant (say, an AVI or WMV or MP4, anything but proper MPG-2), and it has to be re-compressed to BE compliant, it'll be recompressed at the frame rate you choose. But if the video IS compliant -- say you rendered it using a DVD Architect template from Vegas, which you should -- then it won't be recompressed and will remain at its original frame rate.

Bottom line -- you can have files on the same DVD which are different frame rates; there's no one single frame rate for a DVD project.

Original file was rendered in Vegas 11 as MXF file, 1080p 23.976fps. I opened DVD Architect, select new, then single movie. Under disc format I changed DVD to Blu-ray and I have options for MPEG-2 1920x1080 24.000p and 23.976p. I think a few days ago the markers only made it across into Architect when I chose 23.976fps (and failed to make it when 24.000fps was selected). When I select Blu-ray, the 24.000fps shows up as my default. I posted my experience just in case it helps someone else. (Strangely I tried to reproduce it today, using the same MXF file, selecting Blu-ray at either 24.000fps or 23.976fps, markers didn't show, selecting DVD markers didn't show either, maybe there is an intermittent bug?)

I know im a little late to the party I actually thought I did reply. Big thanks to David and Beta, that really did help, did not see that at the bottom so appreciate you helping me resolve my issue.

OK, under Blu-ray, possibly; the OP was making a standard DVD.
