Changing spatial orientation

I'm trying to add a short clip of music to a clip I'm editing... it needs to sound as if its coming from the cell phone. I have a high quality AAC file of the music... is there a way to get it so it sounds like its coming from the cell phone in the shot? Should I take a shot with the music being played from that location on set? In my rough cut, I just put it in and lowered the gains by 5. It was pretty rough :) Any advice? I'm editing in Premiere, but have access to Soundbooth.

Cellphone bandwidth is quite limited. Start by rolling off the highs and lows using the equalizer controls. Roll off the lows with a sharp cutoff below about 380 Hz and the highs with a cutoff at about 3.4 kHz. Izotope's free Vinyl plugin can give you you further tinny effects.

I did what was recommended, then I added a a little bit of reverberation through Soundbooth... then I changed the stereo track to be 66% R since the character is framed in the third right... seems good. Not 100%, but at least 90% :)

Thanks for your help!
