Changing event length

I have a timeline with over 200 still events, all the same length with dissolves of the same length. I've keyframed pan/crop attributes for about a quarter of the events and now I've decided I want to change the length of all my events without affecting the dissolve length. If I change the length of one event, copy it, select all, and paste event attributes, the same pan/crop moves are pasted from that event--not what I want here. I'd like to just change the length of all my events without affecting any other attributes. Any suggestions?

I am not at my project computer right now but the only suggestion I could offer would be to go into Options and under the Preference tab Editing, change the length of the event. I'm not sure that will work though with events already on the timeline but maybe you can try it and see?

Thanks, but changing the preferences only affects new events added to the timeline. It seems like there should be a simple way of doing this.

yes, there are scripts that can do that. Both Excalibur and Ultimate S can easily do this but you can also find a free script called "SetEventLengthAndCrossfade.js"

Any idea where I can find that script? I chased down all the script links on the VAAST site and no luck. Thanks.

I have one on my site that sets the length but doesn't adjust the crossfade. It's at http://www.jetdv.com/scripts/SetEventLength.js

The other script was written by JohnnyRoy so it should be on the VASST site somewhere.

Personally, I use Excalibur to do both tasks. You could use it in demo mode (good for two weeks) to get this one task done. Ultimate S will do it as well and also has a demo mode.

Thanks, I did end up finding it on the VASST site, although it took some work tracking it down. Is there a way to list all the scripts uploaded to VAAST? I could only get listings of 10 scripts in any single category. Maybe I was missing something, but it was frustrating. Anyway, I use the script and had an uninteded consequence--my pan/crop keyframes at the end of each clip are now in the middle of each clip. Ah well, so much for time-saving devices.
