Changing color of my logo

Is there a way from within Photoshop that I can take my company logo that has a total of 3-4 colors in it depending on the background. There is a company that can print up my logo on t-shirts but they only do ONE color silk screens. So I need to make my logo black and white.

Is there a way I can do this in Photoshop? I had a graphic designer create the logo some time ago.

You can turn your logo into to CMYK color space, and then isolate each channel in the channels pallet, save each seperatly, and I think that will do it.

There is another way to do this, but I can't remember the process.

From what I can tell, you're looking to make your logo strictly black or white with no shades of grey. Kind of like a stencil. Is that what you're looking to do?

I thought he meant breaking down each channel into grayscale tommy, but you may be right. I think if it the way you describe and he wants, and if there are any mid tone values, they are going to get squashed.

Yea I need to have some T-shirts made and one company I found only does 1 color silk screens. If I get a black shirt then I would need my logo to be like a white stencil I guess.

Yeah, midtones will be gone. Can you post the image (small or medium size) so that we can see what you have to work with?

Did the designer give you an Illustrator file by any chance along with a PSD file?

You can see the logo on my myspace page its apart of the background (my logo is a strip of film) She sent me several files so I will have to look and see.

Did this using the magic wand, inverse selection and delete.

I'm not sure if you can do darker areas in 1 screens though. If not, then the best thing to do is change the Illustrator file and add seperation areas between the hair and the rest of the graphic.

And, honestly, the best type of file to give a shirt printer is an Illustrator file anyway.
