Changing color - I am going insane

Okay, I've ready everything in the help files and the manual and I think I am going insane. I want to change a particular color within a clip without changing any of the other colors. For instance, a guy has a red shirt on and I want to change it to a blue shirt, without anything else changing.

I thought this was possible but I just can't figure it out.

Can anybody help explain it to me so I understand how to do this?

Add a secondary color corrector effect to the clip. Click on the "Select Effect Range" eyedropper and pick the red color. Now change the color on the wheel in the top section. Remember this will change EVERYTHING that is red.

To avoid having EVERYTHING that's red turn blue, duplicate the clip underneath, then use the besier (sp?) mask to cut around your subject wearing the shirt, though you'll have to key frame has they move. Ideally, as long as their's nothing red RIGHT around/behind him, you can be pretty loose with cropping the mask to the subject (won't have to be as tedious).

Then, use the secondary color corrector effect on just one of the clips, like jeditdv suggests.
