Changing background color

I'm trying to change the black background in FCP to white for a logo I'm going to insert. Could someone give me a pointer on how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Do you mean you're going to put your logo over a slug? When there is no video at all it shows up black because well there is no information at all. If you want to "change the black" you first need to put something like a slug there. Then use one of the color filters and fiddle around (I forget which one it is, but someone else will sure chime in with that).

Otherwise, you can just create a white (but tone it down so its not illegal white) plate in Photoshop (or any simple image editing program). Bring that in with your logo. Just layer the logo ontop of it (thus preserving the alpha, keyframe ability, etc. of the logo).

cheers.

All you have to do is click the little film strip icon at the bottom of the Browser and then select MATTE > SOLID COLOR. Your background will change to blue then from there you can change it to white by using the color wheel.

Im still kinda new to FCP, but i think you can dump a MATTE -> WIDESCREEN and change the color there and then add the logo as another layer...maybe, dont take my word for it.

If its black again perhaps you didnt put enough white on the timeline. You probably need to drag the MATTE > SOLID COLOR> WHITE clip out long enough for your needs otherwise it will go back to black.
