Hi everybody,
Hvx 200 is arriving in French. Not to early.
I would like to by one but we can only preorder kits with 2 P2 cards and the HD AJ-PCS060G. I think the format of this HD is classic 2,5".
My question is: do you think possible to change the internal HD?
The one supplied is 60 Go and it would be very interesting to put a 120 or 160 Go inside.
Sorry for my poor english, I'm french.
Thanks a lot,
Pierrot.

Hey Pierrot,

There is a pesky limitation as to how many partitions windows can mount from a physical drive. I believe the number is 15. If you are offloading 8gb cards, then a bigger drive would be useful, but if you are offloading 4gb cards and intend to use windows to work with your footage, 15x4 and you are just taking advantage of the full 60gbs the p2 store ships with.
But more importantly, I have no idea if you can swap out the p2 drive. I would imagine you can. It would be absurd for the product life to be limited to the life of the drive inside. They must have made it so the drive can be replaced. However it may be one of those things where you have to get an authorised service center to do it... I just don't know...

On ne t'en tiendra pas rigueur, va.

I suspect you cannot change out the drive, or as was said, cannot do it yourself anyway. I would be much more likely to buy the P2 store if I knew that I myself could switch out the hard drive for one of equal size if it went bad.

Anyone brave enough to try this would be appreciated...

Thanks a lot guys,
At this price bigger HD and Fire Wire would be more interesting but...
The last question is what kind of partition is on it, is it possible to do a clone of it?
If yes it's a first step to replace it.
If a happy owner could tell the kind of battery used. I'm doing documentaries . I'm trying to know if I can travel for several days without meeting a plug.
This camera is a fantastic revolution. But for the moment, this revolution seems to be a little linked to power plug.
I had a dream, interviewing villagers in far end of cambodgia on HD.
Thanks.
