Hi everybody, I wanted to know if any of you guys is using a Chamois Eyepiece for his DVX100A ? If yes, which model would you recommend ? I would also love to see some pics of it installed on a DVX.

Thanks !

I'm giving myself an I-cuff DV for Christmas.:) I don't know if I need it, but I need to use my viewfinder more (I've relied WAY too much on the LCD) so I think if its nice, soft, warm, and dry it might be a good start to getting me to use it.

Chamois Eyepiece are more for a shoot they wear out with use... thats why there 5 bucks they feel real nice on your eye so buy a few or a wrist band works real nice also.

the i-cuff is crap, go for the $6 chamois. youll have to super glue it but its worth it.

Do you recommend Bluestar or Image-2000 ? It seems there are many different types. At B&H they have two different chamois eyepiece made by Image-2000. Then there is the Bluestar at http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/eychamsmal.html.

I have been told to get the Oval XL1 , #BS-XL1 for the DVX100A ?

Sink : Do you have a picture of your DVX with the glued chamois ?

Thank you very much :)

I completely disagree, I have been using the i-cuff for over a year and love it.

I use a chamois eye piece and I love it. It's good for those days when it's really hot and you don't want sweat to run in your eye when you're shooting something really important, but it also works wonders on extremely cold days when the feel of a cold rubber eye piece on your face isn't so pleasant. Plus...it looks cool. At 6 bucks a piece they are cheap enough to order a few, so that when one gets contaminated with sweat and other funk you can just toss it and have a fresh one. I have heard good things about the I-cuff, but have never tried it. Get the XL-1 size eyepiece from filmtools.

As I can see, you guys glued the chamois on the pre-existing rubber that comes with the camera ?

Thanks alot for your comments guys.

no, you glue it to its self because the glue they use does not last very long. youll understand once you get one.

i have both the eye cuff and the chamois.

the eye cuff i absolutely sucked for me. i can't explain why other than it just felt rough against my face. i mean super rough like it wasn't even designed to go against your face.

i'd sell it for next to nothing if someone wants it. i put it back in the bag and ordered the chamois.

the problem with the chamois is that whatever they use to fuse the chamois and the black foam is insufficent.

the two pieces start to separate the very first time you use it.

i have bought two of them about 3 months apart and both were exactly the same so its not like i got a bad "batch"

so i had my wife stitch the parts that were separating and then bit by bit she wound up restiching the entire thing.

now it works great.

i think they need to make a model more specific to the dvx, i think the "oval" they have now is maybe too generic and not close enough?

but in the end the chamois is great.

i just got the thingies that go over my sony 7596 headphones. the covers with the fuzzy chenille and they are great.

Nothing feels better than a chamois eyepiece. Never liked that sweatband-on-the-camera deal.

I agree- the old camera condom feels great! (Chamois) Although from the sounds of it, some of you a re gluing yours to you camera? What happens when you need to replace it? Their cheap for a reason, they are supposed to be replaced as they are used and dirtied. Or am I mistaken?

i have found that if you have someone slowly go all around the chamois/rubber seal and stitch it carefully it will work a LOT better.

i don't have the patience or the skill but luckily my wife stiches up people all day and she does the most amazing stitches and knots!

i do wish someone would make a higher quality chamois that wouldn't fall apart and one that would also fit the dvx better.

i came across the eye cuff i bought and never used. i'll happily give it to someone who really prefers that. just pay for shipping.
