Anyone ever take the certification classes/tests for Motion and/or FCP? Worth it if you're a working editor (albeit not amazing in the graphics department). How'd it go?

Took both.
I have been hired by clients over other editors SOLELY on the fact I was certified, so in my book it was worth it. It doesn't say you are a good storyteller, but it can separate from the competition in terms of technical ability.
For both I took the 3 day training class, with the exam on the 4th day. In FCP I had been using it for several years and barely passed the exam. In Motion I had only used it for a few months, and passed with a 93% or something. (you need 80% to pass)
If you are serious about getting certified, I'd highly suggest taking the classes. They may be expensive but it's hard to get as much out of just buying the book and trying to teach yourself.
