Certain Shot

The same 'effect' was used quite a bit in Requiem for a Dream as well.

To my understanding, it was a special apparatus that went around the actor with the camera facing them (however, I don't know how similar/dissimilar it is to a steadicam).

I'm sure you could get a steadicam to do the job pretty well, but that's thinking purely from a logistical standpoint, and not an experienced one.

Good luck!

Darren Aronofsky introduced that camera move in Pi his first feature followed by Requiem. I think he even tried to or have patented that move.

It's indeed a body mounted system worn by the subject, but not a Steadicam by any means. A few companies make contraptions that do this trick. DoggiCam is one (www.doggicam.com). Walter Klassen (www.walterklassen.com), who is known for excellent Steadicam gear, also makes a rig that will create that effect. I'm sure there are others.

Best,
Afton Grant

Darren Aronofsky couldn't of invented that move, Mean Streets came out in 1973. Of Martin's first movies... It was invented by him or someone prior

Thanks for the tips
