In the back of the April DV magazine, there is a Century Optics ad which includes a Widescreen Eyepiece to view 16:9 squeeze normally. I went to thier web site and could not find anything on this product. Has anyone used this. What is the cost, and where can I get info. Thanks

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

I saw it at the DV expo last year. and it was like $600.00 I think. That was the last time I saw it. I think they have nixt it. 8)

I think you are correct Elvis!

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

Cool idea. But worth $600? I would assume that most people who can afford 600 dollars to look at unstretched footage would likely have the resources to use a field monitor with 16:9 capabilities, no?

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

I don't think it was worth $600, but if you have no AC power and by the time you rent or purchase batteries for a monitor.

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

I remember them telling me it was going to be $395...

'course, you could always buy one of their little anamorphic adapters (37mm threads, for the small cameras) and gaffer-tape that bad boy to your viewfinder. Might work about the same...

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

Well, I'll be... there it is!

B&H doesn't list it, neither does Century's own website. I wonder if it's actually out or if Adorama's jumping the gun a little?

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

The Widescreen eyepc. for the DVX100 should be available from our dealers. The list price is $395.00, cheaper prices at our dealers. We do not make a widescreen LCD adapter for the DVX, only for smaller LCD screens.

Re: Century Widescreen Eyepiece

I can't imagine purchasing something like that to put on top of an already low res screen.  Heck that darn 14" Toshiba TV that has 16:9 squeeze mode for $149 would be a much better bet IMHO.  That is if you don't already own a field monitor.
