Century Precision Optics 1.6x teleconverte

When reading about the Century lens I always see "Century Precision Optics makes a 1.6x teleconverter for the DVX. It allows using the upper half of the zoom range". So what does this mean you end up with for magnification numbers. How much of an increase is this from 10x , and does only being able to use the upper half of the zoom range limit this lens, and in what ways.

It's quite limited. Your 10:1 zoom lens becomes, basically, a 2:1 zoom lens. Instead of 4.5-45mm, you get 36-72mm. It gives you longer reach, but at the expense of not being able to zoom out very far at all.

What is the conversion factor to 35mm so I have a good reference for the increase of the century lens.

Re: Century Precision Optics 1.6x teleconverte

7.2x. So with the Century 1.6 telephoto, you have a lens with a field of view equivalent to a 260-520mm zoom on a 35mm still camera.
