Century Optics Ultra Fish Eye

Just had two questions.

1. How do I get the front sunshade to sit on the left and right of the lense? or top and bottom? right now if I follow the directions it sits diagonal- since there is vignetting I would like it to be symetrival.

2. If I do decided to zoom a bit- is there a particular ratio lost in the effect? For example would it zoom in and be the equivalent of say the smaller fish eye?

Re: Century Optics Ultra Fish Eye

if you zoom the tiny amount that is required to get rid of the vignette it really does not loose much barrell distortion. If you going to crop or shoot squeeze you do not have to worry about zooming at all.

with getting the hood right it is kind of difficult. I recommend putting it on a tabel with you start to put it on and hold the bac of the lens with one hand and twist the front with the otherso thatyou can pull the hood all the way around. Its difficult and seems as if your putting too much pressure but if you using both hands it should work out fine.

Re: Century Optics Ultra Fish Eye

Boomerang, do you like your fisheye? I'll buy mine in about 2-3 days.

Re: Century Optics Ultra Fish Eye

I really do. i have little field time beacuse its new- but the quality and feel of it is excellent.

I wanted the Ultra because if you are gonna use a fish eye it might as well look dramatic.

If you have the budget its an excellent piece.

Boomerang:

Sorry you are having a problem with the orientation of the shade/lens protector on you Century Ultra Fisheye.

The design (of the "shade" ) has undergone a change to make it easier to adjust. I would recommend contacting John Sioringas, Century's customer service representative by either email " jsioringas@centuryoptics.com " or by calling him at 1-800-228-1254 ext 126 for assistance. If you have problem , contact me at ext 110.

zooming in to eliminate vignetting also reduces the actual maximum FOV a bit and therefore the distortion - which is typically a desired effect. You have be the judge of the trade-off between the vignetting and the extreme barrel distortion.

Ronik - Did you buy the Bayonet mount? I didn't see it listed on their site?

Re: Century Optics Ultra Fish Eye

How good is the regular fisheye? I would like the ultra, but I think for the price, I would rather get the other one. I believe its around 449? Has anyone used this? Also, I have seen that reversible wide angle/fisheye attatchment, does that work? Is it even compatible with the DVX?

Stay away from 47th street photo !!!!!! Bait and switch at its finest! Poor customer service! Did I say poor? I meant nonexistent.

Seriously ... talk to Rush at EVS.

But there is a 70$US (100$CAN) difference between the ultra fisheye at EVS and at 47ST.PHOTO.... and I really don't have a lot of money! I even don't have all the money to buy it at 47st.photo.

One more thing, it's 719$ taxes in at 47st.photo and it's 819 plus taxes at EVS so it's like another 60$ more expensive + the original price difference of 70$, it means 130$US more.
Correct me if I'm wrong regarding taxes.
