Century Optics Follow Focus Ring

I have a question regarding the Century Optics Follow Focus Ring (VS-MFSY-DVX). In Century’s info on the Web, it states "industry standard-pitch follow-focus gear to facilitate integration with popular professional cine-style follow-focus systems"

Pardon my ignorance but what is industry standard-pitch? Is it Arri pitch? Does this mean you can use it with an Arri lightweight follow-focus? Does the gearing match?

There are a number of specific manufacturers of follow focus units for the DVX ranging from Chrosziel lightweight to JBK.

If I know what industry standard-pitch is, then I know whether I can expand or limit my choice of the follow-focus systems.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Century Optics Follow Focus Ring

I posted this info on another thread but here it is again. The gear on the Century Cine-Style Focus Ring is the "Arri" metric .8 module, 20 degree pressure angle gear, that was intended to be a metric equivalent of the original Mitchell gear which was english units, 32 pitch 14 1/2 degree pressure angle.

.8 metric = 31.75 english so since the drives are not used at high speed or pressure they work interchangeably-- tho you can get some gear noise if you rack focus very fast due to the different pressure angle and very slightly different pitch.

Bottom line, our gear is compatible with Arri, Chrosziel, JBK, CAI-Vision etc.

Thanks Bill for your info. I should have done a through search before posting. I presumed it would work with the Arri et al but I just wanted to check. Thanks again.
