Hi,

Anyone use the Century Optics Focus Lock for the DVX100, and what are your thoughts on it in terms of usefullness and build quality? Also, does it work with the Panasonic anamorphic lens? Thanks so much!

Best Regards,

Mark

If you are talking about the focus ring with stops, yes it works with the anamorphic lens. Mine works great, but don't need it anymore.

Well at this moment I think its sold, but i'll have to wait and see.

wait a minute, there is a focus ring with focus locks???

i had near zero need for a focus ring (i mean i wanted one, but didn't NEED it) but if it has a lock then i can justify it.

i would love to have 2 stops so i can setup between the two positions on shoot and know i'm not going to miss it!

which brand has this?

Hey Matthew, i'm talking about the Century Optics focus ring that has stops , or lockouts, that limit the focus ring on the DVX so it works like a real lens, sort of. It attaches around the focus collar. But the stops are pre-set,so they can't be moved. Check out the Century website.

Mad Doug, you say you think it might be sold. Is that in reference to me? I PMed you like 3 days ago but never got a responce.

TC, i'm sure I emailed back to you. If not then I apologise. The user who i'm dealing with right now is blasingoat. If for some reason he decides he doesn't want it, i'll let you know. I also have the pana-ana lens for sale, that no one has dibs on. It has been modified to work with the Chrosziel 411-53pk mattebox, which I don't own. But I did build a mattebox that works with the anamorphic lens, 4x4, non rotational two stage. You can't really rotate a 4x4 in front of the lens anyway, unless you zoom in, but thats another thread. I'd be willing to let the mattebox go with the lens. All anyone would need are a couple of filter holders, I use the cavision metal ones, they work great, $49.99CAN.

Re: Century Optics Focus Lock for DVX100

how hard would it be to add your own additional stops?

i just think it would be a godsend to set the focus setting for your first shot and then the second one so you can do sort of a dof/whip focus to shift from say the actor in the foreground to another object in the distant background.

doing this by hand would be a real pain and could take a bunch of takes to get right.

if i had two stops i could set it would be a piece of cake.
