Century Optics 1.6x Teleconverter

Does anyone know if this is simply a larger version of the DVX lens? Are there any special optics for HD in a teleconverter? I ask because I would like to use my 72mm version via a step up ring in an HVX. I always use the teleconverter like a prime lens, fully zoomed in.

In theory, given the not so big difference in thread size, a 100% zoom should cause no vignetting. So is there a difference in the actual glass?

Disjecta:

The glass is the same. The 1.6X was originally designed to broadcast standards.

Modeling the design on the computer as well as real world tests show the performance on the HVX200 is excellent. It is possible to have us change the lock ring and modify the rear cell so that it would bayonet mount onto the HVX200, but then it will not fit your DVX.

One note of caution if you adapt it yourself, The front element of the HVX200 zoom is steeply curved and comes within a millimeter or so of the front of the lens housing, so becareful not to hit the front element with the adapter.

Hey thanks Bill. Any idea how much a modification like that would cost? You can PM me if you don't want to discuss here.

Thanks,

D

Disjecta,

Dont mind answering here, others may have the same question, I would think the cost would be about $150 plus shipping.

Sounds totally reasonable Bill. If and when I get an HVX, I'll be selling my DVX so it won't be an issue.

Thanks
