Anyone have any thoughts on either the Century Optics 0.6 or the 16x9 0.6? Seems like the Century will have more of a zoom through, but that doesn't really matter to me. 16x9 seems a bit less expensive. Thanks!
i used to have a Century 0.6x for my DVX100a and it was very good. i also bought the Century 0.6x for my EX1 and is was not good. in fact so lame that i hardly ever use it. vignetting is very obvious and dont find the edges to be as good as they were with the DVX100.
i have an HMC150 that i have considered buying a wide angle for but have much hesitation about buying the Century wide again.
i also had a Century 1.6x tele for my DVX that was excellent. dont know why QC went out the door with my EX1. i dont know anything about 16x9.
I've seen several samples of 16x9's glass, and imho the quality appeared a little better than the Century. Opinion's set aside, 16x9's are lighter weight, lower cost, and their support is top-notch.
The main thing would be wide angle performance... hence the reason for one of these in the first place. My DVX Century 0.6 was great as well, but I have read mixed results from other Century lenses, so I can't use that as a point of comparison. And the 16x9 feedback I have read is for different lenses as well, not the 0.6. Anyone who has popped on of these on an HPX please let us know how it worked. Thanks!
i love my century .6x wide angle, not too much distortion and about 80% zoom through (not the best looking) but if i wanna zoom much i take it off. very quality, took a huge spill filming some skiing and it got knocked off and flew real far, still perfect.
