Century Opitcs Cine Style Follow Focus- How does it work?

Hi all. I was looking for some more info on the follow focus ring by Century. I've read all of the posts here about it, and nothing online has answered my nagging question. Does this devices really add hard stops to the focus ring on the DVX? In other words, if I were to use a follow focus unit with this, does it allow me to set it once and then just focus at will with out fear of going over or under the electronic scale (thereby totally f-ing up any chance of having acurate focus marks).

Most of what I've read strongly suggests this, but I'm just looking for some first hand confirmation here. And finally, what's the thread pitch of the gear? 0.5, 0.8, other? Thanks in advance.

Dear Finnian,

The Century follow focus ring, has a built in spring loaded stop mechanism that allows infinity and close focus to be set at the stops, for repeatable marks. The pin can be dis-engaged to allow for macro focus, after which you re-set the stops.

The stops need to be checked and re-set if necessary each time the camera is powered up for use.

The pitch of the gear is the std .8 metric module common to film lenses and film follow focus drives.

Thanks Bill! Great to hear that straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Do you guys also sell a follow focus unit of your own that would fit 15mm rods (Chrosziel)?
