Century Anamorphic at IBC?

Hi,
1) Does anyone know if Century showed a 72mm Focusable Anamorphic at IBC?
2) Might it be sharp enough for the Sony FX1? (For "true" Anamorphic)...as it has 72mm threads as well.
Just curious...

Re: Century Anamorphic at IBC?

No we did not show a 72mm focussable anamorphic at IBC, This project has been delayed and only currently exists in a crude prototype form. We hope to have a working, presentable unit by DV Expo in LA in Dec.

While we cannot be sure about compatibility and performance on the new HDV cameras, based on the similarity in the lens size, wide angle focal length and chip size we expect it to.

Interesting! Thanks Bill.
"True" (cinemascope) anamorphic when combined with the 16x9CCDs on the Sony.
Dumb question, but would this combination be 2.35?
Thanks anyone.

Re: Century Anamorphic at IBC?

Yes, that would be cinemascope aspect ratio. From an original 4x3 you essentially double letterbox the footage or from 16x9 footage you letterbox it once as you would for 4x3 to get widescreen. Both methods will approximate Cinemascope.
