Century .6X Wide Angle Edge to Edge Sharpness Issue

Hey guys,

Just picked up the Century .6 wide angle for my HVX202. I'm quite happy with it, but see it exhbiting some strange edge to edge sharpness issues.

I'm not sure, I have to do some more testing, but I think it may be when the aperture is wide open as some shots (outdoors, lots of light) seem fine, and others really look fuzzy at the left side of the frame (some indoor shots).

Has anybody else experienced this and found a way to help reduce the chances of it occurring?

Any discussion would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

I just bought the same lens for my HPX170, I don't see this issue with my copy. How long have you had it? Can you still exchange it?

I also have nothing but good things to say about this adapter on my 200.

I can also say the guys at Century have fantastic customer service, they went way outta the way for me when I had an issue with the glass being scratched.

good luck,
Mike

Thanks guys, I have since managed to pull some OK looking images from it, but it's definitely a little softer than the stock lens. I have had to ramp up my scene file to compensate.

I suppose anything you put in front of the lens is going to affect the quality to some extent.

On the subject and as a sidenote, have any of you played with removing the barrel distortion this lens exhibits in After Effects? I don't mind the barrell distortion in some shots, but you can get some great looking images by removing it in post. Similar to a proper full frame wide angle on an SLR, all nice straight lines etc. You should check it out. . .
