I searched and I see that there are some users on here. But why arent more people using this FREE software? I read in the past there was a catch that all your stuff would go online? But is now changed.

Anyway, I have FD on PC but am moving everything to mac, and didnt want to pay for a new licence. And found this. Beautiful so far.

I use my copy of FD on both my pc and my mac. The registration key works across platforms.

Personally, I found Celtix really buggy, and not that full featured. Trying out Cinergy right now, and while it is missing a couple things Celtix had, it's much more stable. They also have budgeting softwre, and everything works together in a do-it-all suite.

I can't afford FD or MM, so I have been using CeltX for all my script writing. Works ok, does what I need. I've been satisfied with it.

Yeah, Larry exposed me to CeltX. I haven't used it much, since I am not a writer per se, but it looks to be quite a capable program. It's fairly involved in the options available. For something that is available as a free download in particular.

I use Celtx exclusively now. They're really constantly improving it; it's not buggy anymore.

It's free. It rocks.

I use a lot of parenthicals, and celtix usually found a way to screw them up. When you have to spend a couple minutes trying to straighten stuff out, it really makes the program counterproductive. Since trying the free cinergy editer, I haven't messed with celtx.

I use celtx and it did have some bugs when I upgraded to a different version. I still use it, but I feel like I have to be careful when using it due to the fact that it once had a problem opening my project and a couple other issues.

Yeah I do find the parentheticals annoying in Celtx, it doesn't handle them as well as Final Draft or Movie Magic. But I really do did it's online features. It makes it really easy to share stuff and collaborate, as well as have an oh-so-important backup on another machine.

Given the price difference, it's no contest. Celtx easily makes up for its occasional quirks with other really cool features, and of course the price is right. But I've never messed with Cinergy, so I don't have a basis for comparison there.

Cinergy is pretty good, but honestly a long time ago, I saved a screenplay as rtf, and then turned that into a word template and went from there in Word.

HOWEVER, not to jack this thread, but since it is about free script software, I'll go for it. I found something I like callled StoryView, which is basically a spreadsheet that allows you to map out acts, scenes, and drill down into sequences and beats, and kind of keep your story organized digitally in a way better than index cards. You can insert beats to scenes, and the beat will stay with the scene, etc. Does anyone know of some kind of Excel template that would do the same? If I can't find one, I will try to write one(Visual Basic -ewwwww). But I would prefer to have one first...any ideas?

i like storyview too, but i wish they had it for the mac. there is that program called power structure which does something similar. i find myself just using omni outliner (mac only), but if they make storyview for mac, i'll probably buy it.
