Cavision

Hey there. I'm looking at a lot of Cavision products to use with my XHA1 (Sorry all you Canon Haters), and I really like their rail system. One question though... Does their rail system and shoulder mount combined make a decent on the go shot?

I recognize that it would be very front heavy, and in that case, is there a commercial counter-weight I could use that doesn't require too much DIY?

I have one that I use from time to time, it works well. It's a cost effective solution that provides pretty good balance and control. You'll still have some weight on your forearms, but it's a huge improvement in stability over shooting without. The key is setting it up so that nothing obstructs tripod mounting.

FWIW, I have an older version of the rails system that were a bit heavier. It looks like the new ones are lighter and overall improved. I now use a Petroff matte box with Zacuto rails and assorted bits. I use the Cavision shoulder brace with the new configuration.
