Hi there,

I just have a question about the new Cavision Dual Wheel, did you have the chance to test it yet? What do you think would be better the cavision one or the RR? cose I need to get one as soon as possible and I saw this one and it doesn't look bad at all...

and the price difference is just 400.- or even less...

what do you think shall I go for it? is cavision good enough??

thx

Cavision makes great products, but so does RR. I have used the RR FF many time and have all ways been impressed, I have used a Cavision once and it was very nice. They have all ways been out of my price range tho so I have never looked harder, Ull check out this new one from cavision. Either you go you're going to get a great FF

I used the new Cavision dual follow focus on my lovefest entry. I highly recommend it!

Oh yeah, and the Cavison actually has a gear clutch! Thats worth the $400 alone.

The Cavision has zero backlash. It is amazingly comparable to the Arri FF-5HD ($4,000+) in many ways. The primary and most obvious difference is the way the Arri mounts to both 19mm and 15mm systems with its elegant "pop-in" adapter piece. If you've used it, you know what I mean.

Functionally, there is little that separates them other than that design point.

The Cavision does have a 19mm and 15mm version and a piggyback option that gives you both. Not instant like the Arri lump, but it gets the job done. One other note is that while Cavision's FF is industry standard for whips, they do not currently make whips.

and what about the lens gear? do you think I could buy the one I'd like and that shall work?
cos I'll be using it with the Letus extreme and SLR lenses no PL lenses right now...

and about the white disk for the marks, do you think you can take it out and clean it and put it in again?

thx for everything guys, I think I'll be going for the cavision dual wheel

Let me know if you want the Cavision, I'm a dealer and have a DVXUser discount (best price, guaranteed).

If you're doing the 0.8 film pitch gears, I'd order the full range of sizes (28, 34, 40, 44mm) to give you flexibility on marking distances and barrel speeds. For a lens with a longer focus range, you might want a smaller wheel for faster moves across the range. Conversely, a larger wheel translates into finer control for critical focus work.

Erik can you PM me a price with gear for standard fujinon on the HPX. Cheers mate. Actually I think I may need more. Might as well include a gear for Fujinon digiprimes as well.

I work for Cavision. Talk to Erik. B&H doesn't have it in stock, you'll get it a lot quicker going through Erik.

If Jason is in this thread, maybe he can tell the SLR lens guys what they recommend for lens gear rings. [EDIT] Jason just PMd me with the four sizes they offer.

I know of four: Ø99mm Ø95mm; Ø90mm; Ø70mm
