CAVision Follow Focus/Gear/HVX200a Question

I've never used a follow focus system before, but I just bought one, along with a Letus Extreme, for my HVX200a.

But - I forgot to buy a gear. Which seems to be no big deal, as this seems to be the one to get for the HVX200a:

CARFGR95

Since my configuration is only a couple days old, I'm confused - does the gear go onto the 35mm lens, or onto the HVX?

I assume it goes onto the 35mm lens - but then I don't understand why this gear is "for" the HVX200 - why would it matter which model of camcorder I own?

I work at Cavision.

The RFGR95 is to be mounted around the focus on the HVX-200.

If you are using a Letus Extreme then you'll a need a gear to mount around that lens.

The RFGR95 is if you are using the follow focus with just the HVX-200.

In order to determine which gear ring size you'll need for the 35mm lens you will need to take a measurement all the way around the lens to get the circumfrence, from there we can figure out what the diameter of the focus barrel is and get the right ring to fit.

Hope that helps.

Thanks JConnors.

I know these are uninformed questions, but then I still have to ask - doesn't the HVX's focus have to remain locked onto the ground glass? And if so, what would be the purpose of having the follow focus?

I looked around, but couldn't find any clear photos or videos of installation - if you have anything you can refer me to that would help, that would be great. Thanks,

The HVX focus will be locked to the ground glass. All focusing when you're shooting is on the third-party lenses.

Sorry, that last response came before yours - thank you, that helps. I'll take a measurement of the lens diameter.

That helps a lot - thanks.
